really loved books one and two, thought mme defarge was a badass, but then book the third got boring and slow and suddenly all french people were evil and "england prevails" because dickens says it does, not because it makes sense for the characters and plot. dickens disappointed me with everyone absolutely drooling over lucie, while she has zero agency in the story. also why does it end as a romance novel with carton as the mc ? do they make it back to london? does dr manette resent charles now that he knows what really happened? who knows, certainly not me. glad i finished this, but i think i'm done with ol' charles doubledick.
