So It Goes by Jennifer Probst

This is the book in the series that I was most interested in reading, but I am someone who needs to read a series in order so I did read the first one in the series prior. While I didn't care for the first book I was hopeful for this one, but ultimately it was not for me either. There were a few things that I did like about this book (fake dating is my favorite trope, I like a meddling family, and I did enjoy that Malia wanted to have a baby and was willing to do the things she needed to do to make that happen). I didn't really feel love between the MC, I could see that were they were attracted to each other, but not love at all. Palmer was okay, but not extortionary or memorable. Malia is a Black heroine, and I personally wish she wasn't for two reasons. The first is that the representation was basically non existent, and what was there was just bad and also because since reading this book and looking at reviews the most common thing is how much people don't like her because she is "stubborn, rude and unlikable". Now I can see where  some of those things might be true BUT so is Chiara from the first book and that no one mentions that, and IMO that makes Malia come off as very 'angry Black woman" and I hate that. I say it all the time but all representation isn't good representation, and this was just not good. Just like all of the other books I've read by this author, there is also random comments about weight gain/ talks about being scared to be fat or looking fat.  Maybe I am sensitive to it because I am a plus size reader, but it always just throws me off because it's literally out of nowhere. Anyway I will finish this series out because I am a series finisher, but ultimately I think my time with this author is done.
