Bitter by Akwaeke Emezi
3.5
The biggest thing I appreciated from this book was the fact that the author portrayed several different roles people can take as part of a social justice movement. While some people are on the front lines, others provide assistance in other ways, and every contribution is valid. That being said, I did not love Bitter as much as I loved Pet. I'm not sure if I just wasn't in the right headspace for this book, since it overall was good, it just didn't have the same impact on me. I think this is a story I will need to revisit at a later date and see if that changes my opinion. For now I will leave it as a 3.5 rating.
