Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult

5.0

A must read. I had mixed feelings about reading this book because I view the art of reading as an escape into another world, a break from reality, a pleasure after a hard days work. The last thing I wanted was to read a book that speaks about Covid. After living through the worst of the pandemic (I hope that year was the worst of it at least!) I wanted to simply tuck that year and the memories away and move forward. This book, Wish You Were Here was released and every day since it’s debut, I kept thinking and wondering what it was about - in more detail - and why and how did Jodi write about Covid?

Just read it. Go buy the book and devour it. The middle caught me by surprise. The end, was amazing. After living through a near death experience myself (automobile accident myself, not Covid) , Jodi Picoult nailed it on the head with her descriptions and the feelings of a survivor and she did it artfully using the “magic” of words. No spoilers from me - you simply need to put this novel on your “Must Read List”, you will not regret it!

And you simply must read the Author’s Note at the end of the novel - Jodi Picoults last two paragraphs in that section got me. We need…..We need….We need —- just read this book and truly remember what “We need” in life.
