Failed Future
by Elise Kova
Wow...just wow over and over again...
I was beyond lucky to received an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Hands down this book was my favorite of the series...so far that is because I bet the last two books are going to blow us away. I’m not going to write a super long review (even though I could write PAGES about the amazing-ness of this book) because if you’ve read my previous two reviews of this series you know I love it and how much I recommend it.
This book takes place almost immediately after the end of book 2 and boy oh boy did we need to know what happened to Vi after she escaped Adela!! During this book we see a lot more of the Crescent Continent and encounter some new people, including the Twilight Kingdom and Lord of the Faithful. The Twilight Kingdom was one of my favorite parts of this book! Elise does such an incredible job detailing the new city and her imagination seems full of endless possibilities!
I really enjoyed Vi’s character development in this book. She is no longer the Princess we knew in book 1, she has come so far to try and save this world and family she loves so much. And after a certain betrayal in book 2, Vi is hesitant of new relationships and it definitely impacts her in this book a lot. From new friendships to Vi and Taavin’s relationship, everything is suspect and it takes its toll on our heroine.
Hands down my favorite part of this book was an epic fight scene. I won’t go into any more detail about the who and what but just know IT WAS AWESOME!! I absolutely love the idea of lightspinning and to see it used for fighting...I NEED more ASAP! Elise’s writing style made this scene came alive for me. I honestly felt like I was right in the middle of this battle and I could not stop myself from devouring this scene (seriously I tried)!
The last 25% of this book is where things really got interesting/complicated. Of course in true Elise fashion we are left with our jaws hanging open and thinking seriously Elise you did this to us AGAIN!! But we all know that we love those endings and Elise! I cannot say enough about this book and series. I have loved every moment of it and cannot believe how close to the end we are getting!!
If you haven’t heard the next book in the series, Sovereign Sacrifice, comes out October 15th! Check out the temporary cover on Elise's page...I’ve heard the final cover is even more beautiful!
