HI HELLO so a huge thank you to my amazing friend Annie for reccomndating this book to me it’s defiantly a new fav! I read this for the viewer rec & diversity prompt for the bookopoly readathon.

What I LOVED:
-the worldbuilding was. SO. GOOD. I usually struggle to immerse myself into fantasy worlds but the worldbuilding was done so effortlessly in this book and ugh. I loved it
-most of the time with dual POV’s books, I have one POV that I love and then the other one is kinda just eh for me. This is was NOT the case with this book! I truly loved both Crier and Ayla’s POV’s bc they’re both so amazing and just so different so it made for a really fun & interesting reading experience
-THE ROMANCE. CUZ DUH. Crier and Ayla’s relationship dynamic was really interesting for 2 reasons. a) crier is a princess & Ayla is a servant b) Ayla wants Crier dead bc of what happened to her family. And every scene with them was just so cute and ahahhaahab when they finally kissed when I say my JAW DROPPED
-there were so many plot twists in this book and I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting any of them & they all made. so. much. sense.
-the structure ! was ! so ! good ! Lately a lot of the books I’ve been reading don’t have great structure, but this book definitely wasn’t one of them.
-I really enjoyed the friendship between Ayla & her bestie. I think it was really well-done
-the characters & her arcs were really well done as well and OMFG I CARED ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS SO MUCH. So when ONE OF THEM died I just sat there, staring, somewhat dead inside.

What I didn’t love:
-the pacing was really slow at first which kiiinda made it hard to get into. with that being said, I do think that it made sense for the story but I tend to prefer faster-paced stories

I honestly don’t have anything else negative to say. I think this was top-tier fantasy UGH. I would H I G H L Y recommend this book and I need the sequel like now.
