inspiring medium-paced

I don’t give stars to memoirs because I feel like it’s weird to give star to someone’s life.
I did enjoy this book a lot. I feel like I learned a lot about Africa, particularly South Africa, and the apartheid. I feel like it was a very unique story that I haven’t heard before, but I really could tell that Trevor painted a picture of what typical life was during and after the apartheid, which was really interesting to read.
I also really felt like I could connect with Trevor, even though I don’t live in South Africa. Being a mixed kid and just having your identity be different than all those around you, was really refreshing to read. I really identified with a lot of his comments even though we’re from different countries and continents.
Overall it was a really good memoir. I still don’t know how I feel about his mom but clearly he has a great amount of love and respect for her. I just feel our backgrounds are so different that we judge parenting very differently.
