The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley

4.0

Julian is a lonely man. He is 79 years old and he has no one. He thinks that maybe he is lonely because he has done some mistakes in life. Therefore he decides to write his true story in a book titled "The Authenticity Project".

He then leaves the book in Monica's cafe. Monica finds the book and decides to write her own story in it before passing it on. Who will find the book? What will become of it?

The Authenticity Project is an uplifting, feel good novel which explores love, passion, loneliness and most importantly authenticity. Each chapter is told by a different character. But its not perplexing as it is clearly indicated in the beginning of the chapter.

I felt a little bored in the beginning as its slow paced. But the story picks up. I did not expect the plot twist. I absolutely loved it.

I love how each character is portrayed. They are not perfect. They have their own flaws. But still they manage to survive and bring some joy to those who around them.

When I read about Monica, I pictured Monica in TV sitcom Friends. Maybe its because of the obsession with cleaning. But I enjoyed her character.

I like Julian in the beginning but later I resented him because he was phony and he took advantage of his friends' kindness.

Recommend to anyone who enjoys a light but uplifting read.
