Mercy Point by Anna Snoekstra

Something that this book really had going for it was an interesting plot.
Honestly, a wonderfully strange plot, that you think you know but then, wham, it's something completely different. Like, think a turn of events like
Until Dawn,
except without any leading moments leading up to
the alien-ness part of
it, and like a million times less scary, which is good considering I want to sleep at night.

Anyway, so this book was about these 5 teens on an online group chat thing for teens who think they're adopted in the place called Mercy Point.
4 of them get POV's in the book and the same 4 go to the same school, the one that doesn't is not even questioned. Literally everything they say/act is ridiculous to the point where I actually accidentally turned to the exact page where it's revealed their the worm (not physically, but I really wish it was).

Sigh. I really wish it wasn't as obvious as it was. It could have been written really well if it was a misdirect.
Also this book was incredibly unrealistic. Hello? How could eight people cover up a whole cave-in that didn't even happen and caused a hundred or so deaths!?
Whatever. It's fine.

However it was an original concept and the world building was written well, it gives a lot of room for imagination, which I really like. Gave this book two stars for the plot (that even predictable, was engaging) and the how it was a quick read.
