Blood on the Line by Edward Marston

4.0

Oh no!! When I first started listening to this, I missed Sam Dastor, who was the narrator for all the previous books. But Cornelius Garrett was also good - I actually liked his voice for Madeleine Andrews more than Sam Dastor’s, however he made Edward Tallis sound weaker and more petulant than I get the impression he is in the writing.

But narration aside, this was rather a departure from the other railway detective books. I don’t want to say why and ruin it for others yet to read it, but I was agog at the events that occurred when Tallis took a new recruit to a meeting instead of waiting for Robert Colbeck to return from the line of investigation he was pursuing.

There was some interesting character development which I also won’t say too much about, but I’m excited to see how the next book pans out!
