When She Returned
by Lucinda Berry
Synopsis: Kate disappeared from parking lot. Its been 11 years. Abbi, her daughter is 16 now. Scott, her husband remarried after 6-7 years of the disappearance and have accepted that Kate will never return and presumed her death. 11 years later, Kate returns with a 7 weeks old baby girl in her arms. She's suffered many injuries. She wasn't kidnapped. She was brainwashed to join a cult. She leaves 11 years later to protect her baby. But when she sees her abuser Ray's photo, she contacts him and as her penance and loyalty she agrees to bring Abbi along with her. When Kate helps Abbi get kidnapped, the police catch them redhanded. Kate is in police custody.
I was invested in the cult and how they function. I was rooting for Meredith (2nd wife) because she was onto something about Kate. Scott was the most useless character. If I'd be Meredith, I wouldn't go back to him. Abbi was believable as a kid who wanted to believer her mother.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. There were a few dull parts here and there. But the story as a whole was interested.
