I'm Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown

3.0

This was a wonderful story that talks about the struggles of being a black woman in America. Due to the current climate of the country, I thought it was right to finally delve into this memoir. As I read through, I was angry and hurt, all of the things that I should have felt as well growing up as a black woman. Being able to relate to a struggle is empowering; it allows you to realize that you don't have to go through this alone. I gave this book 3 stars because it made me think and it made me realize the struggles I will eventually have to go through. While I also related to the author, there were still a few moments in which I couldn't wrap my head around a story. Overall, this book was a great way to start discussing and understanding the ways in which people navigate an unjust world.
