Burn Our Bodies Down
by Rory Power
This book broke me than put me back together.
The portrayal of generational trauma and emotional abuse within families resonated with me and it made me feel like I was a spectator of what happens in my own family. This is a very hard read and it has some very heavy topics but for me it was very cathartic. I loved Margot and her anger and her frustration with her family made me feel validated with my own struggles and anger from trauma and emotional abuse. Rory Power has such a poetic way of writing even the most gorey and horrifying scenes, so far I’ve loved all of her writing and I’m excited to see what else she comes up with.
Also please look at the trigger warnings on her website, I’ll say it again there is very heavy content in this book and it may be triggering for some.
