I was looking for something sweet, cute and fluffy contemporary. Though it was actually sweet, it was not cute and fluffy at all. It deals with some heavy issues such as loss and cute and fluffy weren't exactly the words to describe this book. I shed a few tears because at some point, I can relate with West. His grief about his father's death is something I can relate to and I truly understand his loss. I can understand how people have different ways to deal and cope with their loss. This is the part where I can really connect with the character. The representation was actually a good part in this story. Though the relationship between Maggie and West isn't really the best thing I've ever read as sometimes it shows contradictions (like when West wanted Maggie to heal and by doing so she needed to start talking to people again, but then he kind of got mad when she started doing exactly that because he thought he would be left alone by her as she started to let people in her life again), there are also times when his words were so meaningful and deep it was kind of sweet. But I can't deny the fact that this was kind of problematic. This book was not exactly dark but it was heavy enough to be reminded of the issue involving the characters. It was still worth the read.
