The Tournament at Gorlan by John Flanagan
3.0
3.5/5. Slight spoilers.
This book was quick and enjoyable enough, but was lacking the kind of oomph that the rest of the Ranger’s Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles books have. I absolutely love Will and Hal, so maybe the fact that they weren’t present in this book created some bias. In general, I think there could’ve been more action/fighting, especially at the end. And around the beginning, when they were trying to gather the Rangers, I did find some parts a little dragging and skimmed a bit. Also, why did they wait a month at the end to actually look into the castle?? Seems WAY too long and now they have more problems on their hands. I’ll continue with the series because I love the world, but without Will it’s not really the same.
