“She was smiling, and for the first time, the building, the city, this place… felt like hers. A place she’d still be tomorrow, the week after, next season, next year…. Home.”

For fans of:
  • Cozy fantasy
  • Big D&D energy
  • Whimsy characters
  • Cute sapphics

I might not like coffee, but I did like this book. I was starting to think that maybe cozy fantasy just wasn’t really for me, but then I finally took this book off my TBR and I had such a good time.

This book feels like if D&D and a coffee shop management game had a cozy baby. The pace is slower than I’m used to, and the stakes are low, but overall it feels refreshing and sweet.

I adored the whimsical and fun cast of characters, Thimble in particular has a place in my heart. And the sapphic romance, slow and relaxed as it was, was really cute.

This book is charming and delightful and reading it felt like it gave my brain a much needed reset. Sometimes all you need is a low stakes tales about coffee, baked goods, and sweet sapphics to bring a smile to your lips and a warmth in your heart. And damn, am I now craving cinnamon rolls.
