Lean Fall Stand by Jon McGregor

3.0

A novel in three parts. A respected member of Antarctic expeditions has a stroke in a storm while another dies. Was he culpable? In acute recovery and then rehabilitation he tries to find other ways to communicate, but however supported, however hard he tries, there's just never enough detail. The story didn't quite hang together for me - and it was best when contemplating obligations to those who share our lives - in a marriage characterised by absence.
