Unmasking Autism: Discovering the New Faces of Neurodiversity by Devon Price
5.0
Very nice to listen to. Learned a great deal. A mixture of self-help, data collection/literature review, memoir, and reference for resources. Want to listen to stories by autistic people of color, but thought this dealt with race honestly and neatly. Had really strong questions, and what to look into, for those in the US. Honestly one of the best non-fiction books I've encountered. Good question/reporting of studies where allistic people are introduced to an autistic person, and depending on whether or not they knew the person was allistic, either saw them as 'creepy' or someone they wanted to get to know better. No direct implications for what this would mean in large group settings, besides personal anecdotes that are then made part of data.
