Kagen the Damned by Jonathan Maberry

Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
There is so much gratuitous violence, and the world-building is a series of info dumps that slow down an already slow-moving story. Sure, there's a lot of action, but it's broken up with the aforementioned info-dumps.
This book also needs some more editing. It is just under 600 pages and has 155 chapters. What is going on with that?
