Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch

5.0

Red Seas Under Red Skies, the second book in Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series, is an exhilarating adventure that takes readers on a wild ride through the high seas and treacherous lands. Following the beloved rogues, Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen, the story dives into their new escapades as they attempt to pull off an impossible heist. Lynch's ability to weave a complex and engaging narrative is on full display, keeping you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns. The bond between Locke and Jean is the heart of the story, providing both emotional depth and a good dose of humor amidst their thrilling escapades.

What sets this book apart is Lynch's vivid world-building and his knack for creating memorable, multifaceted characters. The cities and seas Locke and Jean navigate are so richly described, they feel almost tangible. Lynch masterfully mixes the elements of fantasy with the thrill of a heist story, making Red Seas Under Red Skies not just a sequel, but a standout tale in its own right.

After finishing the first book I had a feeling that this series might become on of my all-time favorites. This book is simply another step toward that reality.

Five stars and it’s not even the question.
