Kiara is 17, lives in the Royal-Hi apartment complex with her older brother and soon she’s going to be involved in a major media scandal involving the Oakland Police Force. Kiara is one of many girls in her situation, doing what she has to to survive and trying to make it to a point where she can live.

This book IS INCREDIBLE! MOTTLEY WAS 17 WHEN SHE WROTE THIS MASTERPIECE! Holy smokes! 🤩🤩 Mottley stated being inspired by a real life case in the media in 2015 for this book, and it feels incredibly real. It’s raw, it’s hard, and it’s realistic. If you’re looking for your next book to tear you apart in realism. This book might just be it!
