This book is all about family dynamics - specifically sister-sister relationships and paternal struggles. Each character felt fully formed and their flaws were a huge part of the story, but acceptance is the big theme here. Tragedy brought the sisters back together at a time when their lives were messy and they needed to regroup with one another. Great writing!
