The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Reading about life was no preparation for living it.”
I want to start this by saying I liked The Silent Patient, but LOVED The Maidens! I am obsessed. So red herrings AND we even get appearances from some characters from The Silent Patient. I love when authors write novels in the same universe. It makes the world more real to me and I feel like I get to see the outside characters from a new perspective! As for the twist, there were aspects that came out of no where. I texted @allies_library every time I thought I knew who the killer was and I was partially right haha. I saw a few complaints about how the twist felt forced because it was so abrupt. However, I feel like that is what made it so good! There were a few clues that could have made you guess the killer, but the reasoning behind the killings was the most shocking part. If I didn’t love Alex Michaelides before, then I definitely do now!
I recommend this one for anyone who loves a thriller with an unexpected twist.
