A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin

adventurous dark emotional slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

For some reason (having not watched the show) I thought this was going to be a really shallow book but I have been pleasantly surprised! I start asoiaf to fill the gap that the first law trilogy left in my heart and this itched the spot (however this was not as heavy on character rather than plot as I would have liked)
  • I enjoy how detailed this world is
  • I have a feeling Sansa has ALOT ahead of her I could her annoying at first and now I just want to give her a hug
  • Spoiler My favorite sections of the book have to be the chapters leading up to Neds death, I wish we could have had it from his pov though rather than Arya who looked away (completely understandable) I feel like something is bad is going to happen to Rob though, I thought the battle part with rob and his army was kind of boring, I’ve been spoiled with Joe Abercrombie’s battle sequences
