Brüder des Dunkels by R.A. Salvatore

Part of the reason it took me forever to read this book is that I have been incredibly busy. Also, this one has definitely been my least favorite of all the Forgotten Realms books I've read so far. I just felt like there were all these threads that could've been really interesting but they didn't really go anywhere. The Time of Trouble is an example of this. When that plot point started I was like "Well this is weird and random," but then as the story progressed I got into it and was like "This has some really interesting potential for story. I wonder if he'll stretch it out." Then about that time it was just over. My husband explained that it was something to tie in with D&D campaign stuff at the time, but as a person reading it now, it was kind of weird. I also wasn't the biggest fan of how Drizzt and Cattie-brie spent 50% of the book pining over each other, only to decide they are going to be friends. I also felt there were a few too many Deus Ex Machinae. There were a few shining moments however, Bidderdoo and the Gutbusters being one, and Harkle Harpell dealing with the Illithids being another. I feel like I would like to read a book about either of those groups.
