The Farm by Joanne Ramos
3.0
emotional hopeful medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

The Farm was more so a look at social class, race, and economics than it was of a dystopia-like baby farm.  It starts off very similar to Handmaid’s Tale, but the unsettling vibes I was looking for was very lackluster. I did feel for the protagonist Jane, but I also thought she was too forgiving given the circumstances. I also don’t like how the author tried to humanize Mae by making her sympathetic when really she was the worse character in the book. Had this book focused more on Golden Oaks I would have been more intrigued. Overall it’s still a good read, and I enjoyed the story.
