Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
4.0

Ruta Sepetys sets her novels in the most interesting of times and in the most memorable circumstances! It is the end of the Second World War and the Russians are moving westward, while the Allies are moving east. Survivors of the German army and of Germany's assaults are on the run to safety. This story is told from four different teen voices--all of whom are deeply affected by the war. They are determined to get to the east coast to board a ship, the "Wilhelm Gustloff" which will take them out of harm's way. Their journey is remarkably told here.
