Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary
5.0

Look, I'm not going to make a habit of reviewing books I get to share with my daughter, but this is something I want to remember. On a recent weekend trip, I grabbed this as an audiobook option for her tablet (which comes out only for trips), then spent several nights listening to it with her and seeing her entertained by it in a new way. This is partly because Beverly Cleary, who I grew up reading, had a whole second brain for capturing how children are and what children want to be told about themselves. This book is timeless as a result; we both laugh along with it. It is no wonder Cleary lived to be 104. Credit also to American treasure Stockard Channing, whose performance here is wonderful. I am so excited to listen with my daughter to the rest of this series (and beyond).
