Y'all. Do not sleep on this series. Bourbon and Secrets is the second book in the Bourbon Boys series, and it's just as good as the first, Bourbon and Lies. I could not get enough of this hate to love story. There was so much chemistry between Linc and Faye, literally from the moment they met. And when they finally give in to each other? Whew. It's steamy. Specifically the bourbon scenes. If you know, you know. 🥵🥵 And of course we have the mystery aspect. It was so good. Definitely had a few twists and a lot of drama.
What I was not expecting was for this book to be so emotional. My heart broke for Linc, because of what you learn in the first book (you get more of the details in this book) and for the secret he's kept to himself for five years. And then the ending. Single dad romances always get me, and Bourbon and Secrets was no different. I stayed up late reading the end of this one too, so I was lying in bed after Derek had gone to sleep, trying not to cry too loud. But the emotions were beyond the single dad trope. I just couldn't even imagine how so many of these characters must have been feeling. I hope by the end of this series, they all get a happy ending.
And speaking of single dad, how could I write this review without talking about Lark and Lily? Those two are already giving Linc a run for his money, and I so enjoyed reading all about them in this book. They are just two more of Victoria Wilder's side characters I've fallen in love with.
AND THANK GOD VW GAVE US A DATE FOR THE NEXT BOOK. It's going to be hard to wait, but it'll be a really nice birthday present next year.
Thank you to Victoria Wilder for the gifted arc - opinions are my own.
