The third in the Faith Fairchild amateur sleuth mystery series finds Faith receiving yet another black mark.
My Take
Page has a truly homey touch in how she writes her settings and her characters. With just enough of a hint as to future scenarios that make me want to keep coming back to visit with Faith.
I do love how patient and understanding Tom is, stepping in to pick up the slack.
The Story
A close friend of her Aunt Chat's has moved into a local retirement home only to die shortly after sending Chat a mysterious note. Naturally, Faith can't resist investigating…especially when Dunne requests her aid.
Her husband takes up the slack by picking their three-year-old, Ben, up from playschool as Faith pitches in to help the flu-stricken kitchen at Hubbard House while body after body is found. And secret after secret spills out.
The Characters
Faith Fairchild is a caterer, minister's wife, and mother to their three-year-old Ben. The Reverend Tom Fairchild has his congregation in Aleford, Massachusetts. Aunt Charity "Chat" Sibley is Faith's relative and works in New York City.
Detective Lieutenant John Dunne is with the Massachusetts state police.
