I feel guilty giving any Tamora Pierce book less than 5 stars—this one just really drags for me, both in pace and in frustration at the challenges (that we are supposed to feel frustrated by as our heroine faces them). Perhaps she’s just TOO good at getting me to take th perspective of our protagonist in this one! Worth reading to get through the character’s plot lines across the series, but not one I ever come back to on its own.
