The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

5.0

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a ride! Beautifully written, and that pacing...so much happened in the span of 500 pages, it felt longer and yet short. The story vaster than those pages ought to hold.

Loved the take on history, the reminder that the suffragists movement was in shades of grey and how the Maiden, Mother and Crone tropes were subverted.

'Behind every witch is a woman wronged.'

Juniper, Agnes and Bella have my heart. Cleo and August and Jennie as well. ❤️

I can smell the lingering taste of magic in the air, even after closing the book.
