Wolf-Speaker
by Tamora Pierce
When I first picked this one up, the intelligent animals bothered me and I put it back down. I have a thing against talking animals, okay? I hate them.
But my mother read it and convinced me to give it another go, and I'm glad I did. Tamora Pierce is like a good cup of tea. There aren't any surprises, but it's comforting and pleasant. The plot is fun, the characters are clear, and it's an enjoyable experience to read. And, since they're on the younger end of YA, they're fast!
