I knew this book was going to shatter my heart, but I just didn’t know how much.

This is my first book by Kelly Rimmer and she did not disappoint. This book follows two timelines, the present timeline follows Alice, a stay at home mom of two kids, a daughter who’s brain is constantly working and a son, who is non-verbal and has autism. Alice’s marriage is struggling and her Babcia’s on her death bed asking Alice to go back to her home town and uncover the past.
The second timeline follows Alaina during WWII in Poland and her families struggle. And these two timeline’s intertwine.

Rimmer has a talent for creating characters you cannot help, but fall in love with. Both timelines stole my heart and I feel in love with the characters. I feel in love with the character’s family and friends.  While I have read a few historical fiction books surrounding WWII I have never read one quite like this.

I cannot wait to read another book from Kelly Rimmer.
