I really enjoyed getting to visit this universe! I loved the play of power that you get to see, and also how it’s obviously a fantasy world but you don’t actually see too much other than the ghosts. It’s very cleverly done.
The story revolves around the girls escaping the welcome house and trying to escape from the law and their futures, and I found the story fascinating. Aster is strong headed but caring, Tandy and mallow are so sweet, Clem is wonderful and Violet is spiky but I ended up loving her.
My only real gripe is that it didn’t quite end how I hoped and felt a bit unfinished - but I do get that there’s a second book to come so
