The Iron Knight

I can't tell you how happy I am that Julie decided to write a book from Ash's perspective. Ash is my absolute favorite character (well, besides Grim of course), and being able to step into his head was fantastic. I was left unsatisfied with the ending of The Iron Queen (purposefully so) and have been anxiously waiting for this book.
At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make the transition into Ash's head. I kept having to remind myself that it wasn't Meghan talking. But soon, I was knee-deep in the Nevernever, with Ash, Puck, and Grim, and loving every minute of it. OH, and of course...the Big Bad Wolf. Yes, that's right, the Big Bad Wolf has entered the story with a vengeance, and I loved it! I love the way that Julie takes all of our favorite Fairy Tales, Classic Movies and her own brilliant imagination and smashes them together to come up with this series. I felt like this book was a mix of The Never Ending Story, Lord of the Rings, Wicked Lovely, & Grimm's Fairy Tales.
There was so much action in this book! I loved how you never knew what was lurking around the corner, and Julie certainly upped the ante with the creepiness of some of the new characters (Just in time for Halloween!!). There were a few that seriously gave me the chills! Uh...the thin man, that's all I'm sayin'. There was also an interesting twist on a love triangle. I have to say I loved seeing this through Ash's eyes. Poor, tormented Ash!!
All in all, I thought this was a great ending to a great series. If you haven't read them yet, now's the time, since there's no wait to find out what happens. I can't wait to read what Julie brings us next (Which, by the way will be a vampire book, followed by Ethan's tale! Yay, Ethan's getting his own book!) She has definitely found her way to my "always read" list.
