i almost gave up on this book given how slow the first few chapters are; i'm so happy i didn't do it because this book is incredible.

i'm fascinated with the narration, everything is clear and understandable without the need to overexplain; charlotte brontë doesn't shy away from metaphors and leaving things up for interpretation (something authors now a days seem to be incapable of doing). as a not native english speaker, as it is my second language, i think it's only a matter of time until you catch your pace with the phrasing and outdated words, once you are capable of forgetting half of what you were told, you'll understand it so easily.

i loved the characters, i don't undertand the hate for mr. rochester's character (outside the age gap), he's such a fun and dramatic man, and i'll never forget his 7+ PARAGRAPHS of dialog trying to conviene jane; the story would suffer without his presence. now, MY DEAR JANE who i love so dearly, i will defend her for the rest of my days, and i'll support her in every decision she takes; she's smart and has a quick and agile mind—loved how she called mr's rochester ugly every chance she had—and even if she still has her lowood values, she grows and learns how to be an independent woman, not bending the knee for anyone above her. i can see why she was such an icon when this was published.

certainly, an amazing book, will be reading again.
