Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t hear about this book in the past 10 years. It’s the perfect combination of beautifully and carefully written, moving between styles with an intention that I did not see coming. The world is interesting, fantastical, and yet realistic in the same way. I am nervous to see what the rest of the series entails.
Also! Queer! Trans! Poly! Several queer characters where being who they are is just part of them and not something crazy!
