This is a book assigned for my Literature of Nature class. This book was a 3.5-3.75 read up until the end. (The writing was lovely, the story engaging, but the subject material was inherently dry). The ending

I know is a product of the age when this book was written, but the main character's attitude toward her friend and brother's murders was gross. The only way Marie's death would have been her fault was if she took her husband's gun and shot herself. This ending just made me so angry and ruined the book as a whole for me, unfortunately.
