Father of Lies by Brian Evenson

4.0

Simplified summary:
When religion masks monstrosity, the devil isn't the only one to fear.

Opening lines:
Director Kennedy: I was somewhat surprised to receive your memorandum and even more surprised by your request.

Review:
One of the worst books I've read in a while. There's something extra vile when you know that the fiction you're reading is a toned down version of things that are actually happen in religious organizations around the world. This is a challenging, piercing, and not-at-all subtle read from a supremely talented author.
