Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
5.0
This was a brilliant book, I started reading it on a train to Somerset and almost missed my stop as a result.
It was fascinating, and also quite shocking at the same time, it is hard to believe that this kind of thing went on.
I loved learning about the history of the Geishas, and the order of the Geisha house etc. I liked the fact that the story begins with her life before the Geisha house, and you learn how she ended up becoming a Geisha. You really get a feel for the emotions that she goes through, and then watch her grow up in this new world. Highly recommended.
