Pumpkin by Julie Murphy

5.0

I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I loved it so much I stayed up all night reading to finish it, I was so invested. The synopsis pulled me in because you don’t see too many books with a fat gay main character with a drag persona, and I was so happy I ended up enjoying this book as much as I did.

It was cute, laugh out loud funny, very diverse and just great representation and conversations being made throughout about queerness, the struggle of not knowing what your future will hold, homophobia, family struggles, friendships, relationships, and just finding yourself and being your authentic and true self. I absolutely loved Waylon and Tucker! I really wanted to see their relationship develop even more, but overall their interactions were super cute. I loved Clem, Hannah, their grandma and all the side characters too. I also loved how supportive the twin’s parents were throughout.

I will eventually go and read the other books in this series, but this officially has become one of my comfort books. A very fun and quick read I will be revisiting again for sure.
