All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
3.0

Calm. Building. Anti-Climactic.

It took a lot of will-power to get through this story for me. I love a historical fiction, it's definitely one of my favourite genres! However, this read was difficult in how it jumped between timelines, characters and viewpoints.

The constant changing did not help the story, and the build up felt faulty in how slow it continued. The sentence lengths did not add build up or slow the pace, instead I found it constant and lacking.

I enjoyed the plot, the characters were well-developed and consistent, and the plot/story was great! But I think it could've been done chronologically in order to make it more suspenseful and therefore more captivating.

I definitely recommend this book, I just think I picked it up too many times at the beginning and it needed to be given more attention at a time. I would read another Doerr book.

Let me know what you thought! Hopefully this helps you decide if it's for you!
