Displacement
by Kiku Hughes
This impactful graphic novel focuses on the comparison between Japanese Internment and the Trump Era foreign policies. Using autobiographical details, Kiki Hughes tells the story of her grandmother’s experiences during WW2 and her personal experience with balancing her Japanese ethnicity and her American identity, as she time travels back to the 1940s. The story is deeply emotional and highly relevant, even with Trump out of office, as comparisons to Japanese internment continue to be lightly thrown about and there are still injustices along the southern border.
