Another solid book. I thought the overall plot was interesting and I liked the way mythology was used for the foundation (as usual).
I think the really fascinating thing Riordan does with this particular series is shows the overlap of the world, it’s religions, and it’s beliefs. This isn’t just different versions of the same gods (like heroes of Olympus) but totally different entities. It’s especially interesting with Samirah, who had and did not abandon, her own religion after learning her parentage. It just goes to show how vast the world is and how these things can co-exist alongside each other without one having to overtake the other.
The side characters were really strong in this book, particularly Alex. She was an interesting addition and a total badass. It was cool to see Riordan tackle further queer representation in a meaningful and considerate way.
All in all it was a satisfying book and that ending has me very curious about what happens next.
