Takedown Twenty
by Janet Evanovich
I expected a bit of mindless reading when I picked up this book, and Takedown Twenty lived up to that expectation. I have read all the books in this series and do so when a need a quick diversion - I know Stephanie will have mishaps while trying to apprehend bail jumpers, I know she will be torn between Ranger and Morelli, I know a car she is driving will blow up or be totaled, I know that Lulu will wear tiny pieces of spandex and eat a lot, I know that Ranger will rescue her and call her "Babe", I know she will visit her parents and go to at least one viewing at the funeral home with her grandmother. Even though I wasn't expecting anything more, I am just getting weary of this. I wasn't sure of the rating I wanted to leave for what to me is a recycled story that sadly wasn't laugh out loud funny as her earlier books. I decided to give it a two (instead of a one) because I knew what I was getting into and did get the diversion I needed.
