Wow. This is easily the hardest book I've ever read (listened to). I had to take it in small pieces because it was so bleak and difficult to get through. That being said, the writing was outstanding and the topic/story is SO important. I was so fully immersed in Kia's mind and experience, which was amazing and terrible at the same time. Truly everything that can go wrong does, and just when you're like "this cannot get any worse", you find out that it's based on a true story, which is absolutely not shocking at all but still just terrible to hear. Highly recommend but brace for impact if you do.
