The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 5 by Beth Brower

5.0

I think anyone who gets to the 5th installment of this series ... is probably a fan. The books are consistent (daily journal entries, each book a two-month timeframe) and at this point it's an easy continuation of a world and characters I care about. While on the one hand, I wish this was in audio format ... I'd be able to finish so much faster ... I also enjoy having Emma's voice be my own, and being able to highlight little portions, that are more entertaining and witty than particularly profound.

This book wraps up the year 1883 with the details of the days November-December. The last installment (Book4) addressed the burial of Maxwell, and got a little intense and sad. Here, Emma is slowing returning to living with the help of I, P and H, each in their own way. Emma's library expands. I don't remember Roland making an actual appearance, although he is mentioned a few times. Jack has a small storyline (as Emma is roped into an activity to repay a debt). More on The Roman.

I peeked at the "Previously Mentioned" for book 6, and it's fun to note the small changes ....
