This book was well written. The way the author was able to portray emotions and imaginary so well was my favorite part of this book. This did well navigating through some of the hardest things a person can face and the aftermath that follows.
While I enjoyed the writing, I did guess most of the plot. There was one twist I didn't see coming but I guessed the others. I did like seeing English country life in the 1950's and 60's. While it didn't get into a lot of the state of the world at that time, it did talk about some of the changes after the war as well as the double standard between men and women throughout the book.
If you like historical fiction with romance and a mystery, I think you would like this book.
