[Short thoughts]

RTC but this was SO GOOD. I was fully invested throughout and constantly rooting for the characters. Everyone was well fleshed out, the romance was adorable, and so many important topics and issues were discussed. It was simply amazing and I encourage everyone to read this for the cute romance and the discussion of in particular biphobia, islamophobia and racism.

This book was amazing! Right from the start, I really liked the writing style, which quickly managed to immerse me. The story was instantly captivating, and once I had started this book I could not stop reading. I squeezed in a bit of reading every chance I got.

The characters were well fleshed out, in my opinion, and as a consequence I felt myself truly connecting with both Hani and Ishu. I was invested throughout the whole book and was constantly rooting for them. The romance was also adorable, and I could truly see the emotional connection was there. I’m always a fan of the fake dating trope as well, so that was great! I also loved seeing the dynamics between the characters, not just between Hani and Ishu, but also for instance between Hani and her parents, as well as Ishu and her sister Nik.

But apart from a cute romance and a book with a captivating writing style and nicely developed characters, this book offered something more. Throughout the book, multiple important topics and issues were discussed and showcased through characters, ranging from but not limited to biphobia, islamophobia, racism, how people of colour are forced to adapt in order to fit in and be “accepted”, how white people don’t bother to learn their names but come up with a nickname that is easier for them, as well as distaste and lack of respect towards other cultures and acting as if two people of the same culture are by default the same. A lot of this was shown through ignorant as well as flat out racist, islamophobic, homophobic and biphobic characters, which was very well done in my opinion.

All in all, this book definitely deserves 5 stars from me, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
